Every year Farnham hosts the feast of food – Food Fortnight
This is where restaurants and businesses in and around Farnham are encouraged to get involved and offer special deals and food related offers for the fortnight running to and including the Food Festival day.
As one of the founding Members of ‘Fabulous Farnham’ a local business owner led town team (http://www.beverleyedmondsonmillinery.co.uk/fabulous-farnham-independents-day/) we felt it really important to get involved, to encourage the vast foot fall of the food festival goers into the high street shops to show people all the great places we have in our town.
Over the weekend 25th and 26th September we had our own ‘Beverley Edmondson Millinery’ food festival in store teaming up with some fabulous local businesses!
First we had an amazing display of cakes from our favourite local cake maker Vanessa Albury of Forever Cakes (www.forever-cakes.co.uk) we worked with Vanessa previously in our vintage themed photoshoot http://www.beverleyedmondsonmillinery.co.uk/vintage-themed-photo-shoot-showcasing-farnham-businesses-talent/ ). Very excitingly, after growing her client base steadily since 2011, Vanessa has just given up her ‘other’ job to make her delicious cakes fulltime!
Vanessa made us the most stunning wedding cake to grace our window and then hundreds of cupcakes to giveaway to our customers and browsers over the weekend. She tailored the cakes to fit our boutique and they had the cutest little hats as the decorations! So we spent the weekend spoiling our customers with little goody bags of cakes; red velvet, lemon and vanilla!
On the Saturday whilst the feast of food was in full swing on historical Castle Street, we also teamed up with a young but inspiring company, I Love Bubbly, (http://ilovebubbly.com/). After several visits to the Champagne region when the owners were organising their own wedding, Oliver and Fiona became frustrated that the Champagne they enjoyed in France were not available over here. So they decided they wanted a new challenge and one they would love; so they approached a grower directly to import their products to the UK. They agreed, and I love Bubbly was born.
We arranged with I love bubbly to put some of our millinery and some offer fliers on their table at the food festival on Castle Street and for us to have some bottles of champagne for our window display alongside money off vouchers for our clients, so that after purchasing a hat they could go and treat themselves to a glass of champagne!
As you can imagine amongst the hats with the wedding cake and champagne our window was a rather luxurious offering! We love working with and supporting these local small business! Especially ones like these that really fit in with the whole ethos of our brand and also supports the high street and Farnham’s Fabulous Farnham Campaign.
